Run Cougar Run (1972) Movie Description:

Walt Disney Productions 1972 animal/adventure drama, Run, Cougar, Run harkens back to the classic "nature" film which Disney made famous. Directed by Jerome Courtland and adapted from Robert William Murphy's The Mountain Lion, Run, Cougar, Run stars Stuart Whitman, Frank Aletter and Alfonso Arau.

Utah's redrock mesa region is the setting for a cave-dwelling cougar family. Tragedy strikes when the male cougar is shot by a hunter, leaving Seeta, the mother, to provide for and raise her three cubs. These magnificent animals are captured splendidly as they experience growing up and learning to survive in an often harsh and dangerous environment.

Contrary to accepted belief, Seeta encounters and is befriended by a gentle sheepherder (Arau), debunking the myth that cougars and humans can't co-exist. However, when the hunter returns, intent on tracking down the remainder of the family, Seeta and the shepherd's relationship is tested mightily.

Cast: Brian Keith, Alfonso Arau and Michele Carey

Disney Movie Rating:
62.9 out of 100. Total of 4 votes.

Scandalous John (1971) Movie Description:

John McCanless (Brian Keith) is the "modern" day equivalent of Don Quixote in Walt Disney Productions 1971 comedy, Scandalous John. Robert Butler, better known for television (The Untouchables, Gunsmoke, I Spy, Hill Street Blues), directed, while Alfonso Arau, Michele Carey, Rick Lenz and Harry Morgan co-star.

Cranky John, a cantankerous former gunslinger, isn't adapting well to the "New" West. Between land speculators trying to buy his beloved land in order to build a dam, "soft" neighbors trying to convince him to sell, and his trusty ranch hand threatening to return to Mexico, John has about had his fill. He finally decides that if something needs to be done, he'll have to do it himself. With hardly a glance back, he takes on the "windmills" that he finds at practically every turn.

Scandalous John is a bit quirky and uneven at times, but Butler's deft direction and Keith's intensity pull it through.
