The 1977 Walt Disney Productions animated film, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an adaptation of the classic A.A. Milne children's book series. The Pooh "brand" has subsequently become an industry itself, producing a series of sequels, cartoons, books, toys, clothing and other Winnie the Pooh-related product, as well as three amusement attractions at various Disneyworld/Land facilities.

Voices for the various characters were provided by a vast array of talented performers, including Sterling Holloway, John Fiedler, Howard Morris, Paul Winchell and Ralph Wright. The film was narrated by Sebastian Cabot.

The innocent charm and wholesomeness of Milne's stories are captured brilliantly, and the animation is flawless. The musical score is by Buddy Baker and the Sherman brothers, Richard and Robert, who've contributed many memorable tunes in classics such as Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is a guaranteed winner with audiences of all ages.

A kidnapped orphan's "Help!" note, via the proverbial message in a bottle, is discovered in New York harbor by the Rescue Aid Society. The case is then undertaken by Miss Bianca (Gabor), who inexplicably selects Bernard (Newhart), a stammering, reluctant janitor, as her partner. After some coercing, Bernard agrees.

Through their investigation, the unlikely pair track the kidnapper's trail and, with the help of an albatross and a dragonfly, discover the orphan is hidden at a pirate's cove in the bayou.

Pet alligators, the world's largest diamond, and a "Swampmobile" all factor into the equation in this amusing and fast-paced adventure.

One of the better efforts from Walt Disney Studios in the late '70s is Candleshoe, a 1977 action film adapted from Christmas at Candleshoe, a novel by Michael Innes. Norman Tokar, long-time Disney contributor, directed.

Noblewoman Lady St. Edmund (Helen Hayes, in her final screen appearance) faces eviction from her palatial estate if she cannot come up with the money to pay the taxes. What's worse, she has a weakness for taking in orphans, and the mansion is packed with them. With the children's help and considerable effort from her jack-of-all-trades butler (David Niven), she's barely able to keep the wolves at bay.

Meanwhile, an alleged treasure trove of gold coins is rumored to be hidden on the estate, and a thieving pair of crooks (Leo McKern, Vivian Pickles) are determined to find it. To that end, they enlist a street-wise urchin (Jodie Foster) to pose as St. Edmunds' grand-daughter in order to gain access and locate the treasure.
