Cast: Voices by Alan Young, Christopher Lloyd and Rip Taylor

Disney Movie Rating:
69.1 out of 100. Total of 1 votes.

Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990) Movie Description:

Based on the cartoon series, Duck Tales, Walt Disney Pictures 1990 animated film, Duck Tales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, brings the popular children's Saturday morning favorite to the big screen.

Scrooge McDuck and his nephews are on a quest to retrieve the lost treasure of Collie Baba and His Forty Thieves. Unaware that their guide is a double-dealing (literally) weasel, they find the supposed treasure only to have it stolen out from under their webbed feet. They settle for a consolation prize, a tarnished, obviously-neglected lamp that ironically ends up being the REAL "lost treasure."

For the remainder of the film, the Ducks race through a series of near-misses and escapes that only Disney animated characters can find themselves involved in.

Skillfully animated and loaded with enough hijinks to satisfy even the most demanding of kiddie viewers, the film benefits from a talented voice cast, led by Alan Young, Christopher Lloyd and the always hilarious, over-the-top Rip Taylor.

Shipwrecked (1990) Disney Movie

Rating: PGLength: 92 mins.Year: 1990
Cast: Stian Smestad, Gabriel Byrne and Louisa Milwood-Haigh

Disney Movie Rating:
64.7 out of 100. Total of 2 votes.

Shipwrecked (1990) Movie Description:

With an almost innocent aura about it that is reminiscent of earlier Disney classic adventure films, 1990's Shipwrecked from Walt Disney Pictures thoroughly entertains without resorting to predictability or "bells and whistles."

The story is a fairly familiar one; Boy sets off to sea in the hopes of finding fortune in order to help his struggling family only to wind up "shipwrecked" on a picturesque South Pacific island. The "deserted" island, quite naturally, is inhabited by not only various wild animals (including a gorilla), but is also visited frequently by ill-intentioned pirates. Gabriel Byrne, as the pirate leader, is effectively understated with his portrayal.

Although fairly predictable, Shipwrecked manages to hold viewers captive with both "natural" performances by the cast and the undeniable beauty of the Fiji Islands setting.

Norwegian director Nils Gaup (who also wrote the screenplay) is to be commended for crafting a nice little movie that appeals to all audiences.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids (1989) Disney Movie

Rating: PGLength: 93 mins.Year: 1989
Cast: Rick Moranis, Matt Frewer and Marcia Strassman

Disney Movie Rating:
71.3 out of 100. Total of 7 votes.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids (1989) Movie Description:

Walt Disney Pictures' 1989 comedy, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids stars Rick Moranis as an inventor who accidentally shrinks his two kids as well as the neighbor's kids to a quarter-of-an-inch tall with the help of an electromagnetic "shrink" ray.

Evoking aspects of the early 60s Disney classics, The Absent-Minded Professor and the Flubber series, Moranis is Fred MacMurray-esque as the forgetful, naive would-be scientist with nothing but good intentions.

All sorts of mayhem ensue as the kids struggle to survive in the "Land of the Giants" environment they find themselves suddenly thrust into. Bees, a scorpion, water sprinklers and a lawn mower all pose deadly hazards as they attempt to make their way back into the house where, hopefully, their father can reverse the process.

Joe Johnston, previously an acclaimed special-effects artist (Academy Award winner for Raiders of the Lost Ark), made his directorial debut in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

The Brave Little Toaster (1987) Disney Movie

Rating:Length: 90 mins.Year: 1987
Cast: Jon Lovitz, Timothy Stack and Timothy E. Day

Disney Movie Rating:
82.02 out of 100. Total of 38 votes.

The Brave Little Toaster (1987) Movie Description:

Originally a novel for children by Thomas M. Disch, The Brave Little Toaster was made into a movie by Disney Studios in 1987. This animated fantasy film was directed by Jerry Rees, who also wrote the screenplay.

Viewers will be reminded immediately of the "Homeward Bound" film, chronicling the adventures of lost pets trying to make their way back home through a series of both natural and predatory obstacles. In this film, several household appliances have been overlooked by their master and left in a summer cabin, and their attempt to find him and return home provides the delightful storyline.

The "characters" include: Sunbeam, a toaster who is the group's leader, Lampy, a brilliant (illumination-wise) lamp, Blankie, a reticent electric blanket, a pretentious alarm clock/radio, and Kirby, a super-strong vacuum cleaner.

The Brave Little Toaster was a surprising box-office success, so much so that two sequels have been produced, The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, and The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue.

Benji the Hunted (1987) Disney Movie

Rating: GLength: 88 mins.Year: 1987
Cast: Red Steagall, Frank Inn and Benji

Disney Movie Rating:
62.51 out of 100. Total of 9 votes.

Benji the Hunted (1987) Movie Description:

Everyone's favorite mutt, the lovable Benji, returns in the 1987 Walt Disney Productions children's film, Benji, the Hunted. Joe Camp, who created the Benji "franchise," directed.

The film opens as a newscast, with the announcement that Benji is missing somewhere in the backwoods of Washington and Oregon. Occasional shots of helicopters searching for him are seen throughout the movie.

When Benji comes across a mother cougar that's been killed by a hunter, he takes charge of the four surviving cubs. Not only does he feed them, but he also protects them from other predators such as a Kodiak bear and a timberwolf. Scenes of Benji carrying baby cougars in his teeth, one by one, is pure classic Disney.

Plenty of animals make appearances during Benji's adventure, including ferrets, raccoons and one very brave frog, who serves as a plaything for the baby cougars.

Benji, the Hunted is a nature lover's, as well as a dog lover's delight, once again proving that no one does nature and animals as well as Disney.
