African Cats (2011) Disney Documentary Description:

One of cinema's true pioneers in documentaries featuring wildlife, with a total of eight Academy Awards, Walt Disney's latest offering in the genre is African Cats. The film is the third release from Disneynature, which is devoted to nature and wildlife film production.

Set in one of the most untamed regions on earth, the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, African Cats is comprised of three separate segments. One involves Mara, a young lion cub trying to apply lessons learned from its' mother as it tries to survive from hour-to-hour in an often harsh environment.

Another segment features Fang, the leader of a lion pride who has his paws full trying to defend his charges from an outcast former member who's been banished.

Sita, cheetah mother of five young cubs, is the focus of another segment. Protecting them from predators, finding food and shelter while teaching them lessons on how to survive occupies her every moment.
